ABOUT THE BOOK
Is your mother tall or is she short? Does she play hockey? Does she score? Does she walk you to school? Or would that be uncool?
Written with love, humor, and delight, Happy Mother’s Day mamma MIA! is an illustrated poem that celebrates Mother’s Day and mothers everywhere. Its simple verse will encourage children to think about rhyme; its message and illustrations will encourage them to reflect on their own experiences of being young, of being taken care of, of venturing out into the world with someone they trust beside them. Happy Mother’s Day mamma MIA! is written for the very young and for those who are beginning to be independent readers … as well as for everyone who just wants to say a big thank you to their mothers. |

TO YOUNG READERS EVERYWHERE
You can overcome your obstacles! Here is a story for you about one of the obstacles I overcame as a child;
When I was a little boy, I often said 'Eh?' whenever someone spoke to me. It was one of my elementary school teachers whom suggested to my mom and dad that I have my hearing examined by a doctor. So, my parents took me to see a doctor, and the doctor said that either I had been completely deaf in my left ear ever since my birth or that I had lost my hearing when I was an infant. During the early years of my elementary school education, I didn't hear much of what was being taught to me by my teachers. As a result, I fell behind and had to be placed in a remedial reading class in order for me to catch up to my classmates. Another solution my teachers came up with was to seat me on the left side of the classrooms between the front and middle rows. This allowed me to hear the teachers better. Prior to that I missed out on hearing much of the wonderful stories that were read to me and my classmates by our teachers and librarians; unfortunately, and I barely read any books in elementary school. Eventually; however, I got all caught up with my reading and writing skills, and years later I even completed a university degree. Ironically, I went from barely hearing books that were read to me and barely reading books as a child to writing and publishing in my adulthood this; my first children's book: Happy Mother's Day mamma MIA! The point of my story is that you can overcome any obstacle(s) which you may have in your life just as I did in mine. I hope you enjoyed reading my book. I hope to entertain and/or educate you with more books in the future!
Sincerely,
Carlo Di Iorio

My mom just turned 77 years young; June 6th! She was born on D-Day. We had "Buon Compleanno cara Concettina" written on her birthday cake.
Concettina is a nickname she was given back in the days when she lived in her hometown of Fallo, Italy.
Please, write to me. I would love to hear your stories.
